as a collector of bbs software as well as utiliies such as wardialers for computers popular in the 80's and 90's such as atari, commodore, texas instruments, apple and more i often come across references to a particular application but no matter how hard i try - finding the acutal program seems an endless journey. fortunately due to my tenacious nature, i often times find what i'm looking for. occasionally though, i dont - which leads me to going to slightly further lengths to try and find whatever it is i am looking for.

blue board bbs for the commodore 64 has quickly risen to the top of my want list. the software was written in 1986 so one would think maybe it would be normal that finding it in 2019 might be difficult, but if you look at lots of bbs programs, telecom programs in general and so much more it is not that uncommon at all to find pages of software that has made it through the years. to make matters even more curious, a lot of times the software that has been preserved is pretty sub par and its obvious that its just due to the nature of people like me that it has lasted.

then i stumble across blue board. next to c-net or c*base i'm not sure i've seen many other bbs programs for the c64 that have been mentioned as often. yet, after several weeks of searching and reaching out to people i have yet to get even a "yea i think i may have it, let me look" ...... nope - nada.

so here we are with a domain, keywords and a campaign that will stretch across forums, newsgroups, chatlines and maybe even a magazine. you see - mr. Sikes met an early end in his sleep one evening. he is no longer with us. a gifted mind and from what i am reading on the internet it sounds like he had a ton of friends in Vancouver where he lived and worked as well as across the usa - possibly the globe. so while i certainly cannot deny that i am interested in finding what sounds to be a *very* well written piece of mostly machine language bbs software - i also plan on using this site to provide as much information about blue board as i possibly can, and while i'm at it - about its author as well.

much more to come - contact me if you have any knowledge of the software or of Martin that you would like to share.
